check either handset is Short, open or leakage

check continuity by meter at positive and negative terminal of battery connector

if meter shows deflection on both side means its SHORT.

If its one side full and other side slight deflect means LEAKAGE.

if it does not deflect any side means OPEN.

AND if deflection is one side only then its OK.
